Yes, a baby can develop an allergy to dairy products. That is, in fact, the most common allergen in young babies. Unfortunately, about half of all babies with a dairy allergy are also allergic to soy.
Please call your doctor *now* to ask her/him about this. You cannot play with the main part of your baby's diet even for *only a week* based on information here; you need to speak to an expert.
And a baby can *never* be lactose intolerant. People who are lactose intolerant typically develop the condition in young adulthood, but *never* before age 3-4. What is called by some lactose intolerance is, in fact, an allergy to cows milk protein. They are completely different conditions.
And, one more comment...it is too bad that you didn't talk to an expert in breastfeeding when your babies were born. (Doctors are *not* such experts.) It is *extremely* unlikely that you are physically unable to breastfeed; it is almost always a matter of incorrect information. If you plan on having more children and want to nurse, please call someone in La Leche League (see sources section below).
Good luck!!

My children all had milk allergies, I had them on soy formula and when old enough I used rice milk and soy milk. Three of the four have out grown the allergy and only my youngest still uses soy milk. My daughter was lactose intollerant and had to drink lactaid for a year too.
But definately check with the doctor.

I would ask a nurse if you can't get in to see the dr. till next week, and if she doesnt have any good suggestions I would insist on seeing the dr immediately because your child wont eat.
To answer your question though...there can be an allergic reaction because of the other ingredients in that formula that do not agree with her, or she could be semi-lactoce intolerant. If the nurse over the phone says its okay to try the soy then go ahead and see if that makes it better.

Sure can. My daughter was about 8 months old when I had to switch her to soy. I found out that my father had done the same thing. She can drink regular milk now and it's not a problem, and my dad is not lactose intolerant anymore. For some reason it was just a thing they had for a very short period of time. Weird, but that's kids. :)

Certainely try Madison maybe lactose intollerant and would experience the symptoms you describe. But I would make a point of getting to a doctor asap. If your child is vomiting then they could be losing hydration. There could also be another cause for the symptoms. So I'd check with a Doctor and be sure.
Hope Madison gets better soon.

I would try to get into the Dr. sooner. My daughter had a similar reaction and did need to be switched to soy, but I would be hesitant to do anything without first getting the Dr.'s ok. There may be another reason this is happening, and you don't want to take any chances with preemie's even whn they are 8 months old. (My youngest daughter was a preemie as well.)

I had the same thing happen with my daughter when she was about the same age. My pediatrician is an older man who has been around for ages. He told me to switch to powdered milk. The kind you mix with water. It smells disgusting but it worked very well the vomitting stopped with in 2 feedings.
I am just telling you what I found out, so good luck. Hope this helps, I really do feel for you.

Call your doctor and talk to him/her about it. She might grow out of it, if she doesn't make the switch now. Chances are that your other daughter will be fine. Try her on soy first if that works keep giving it to her. If not try some other formula. I'm sure one of them will work. Good luck.

Absolutely yes. Just call and ask for advise, tell remind them that you have an appointment in a week but you are concerned. It is never a good idea to change formula with talking to the dr first.

Yes, an allergy can occur at anytime in ones life and that could be the problem but it could also be several other things. She could be teething and the milk is souring on her stomach, she could have a bit of acid reflux which does occur in infants, etc. It could be any number of things. Make a call to their doctor and ask questions,he may want you to come in early.
