Revelation reveals the unknown .It is the most misunderstood and the most misinterpreted book of The Bible.
Each denomination has almost different interpretation.
The words hell,hades,grave,devil,second coming,resurrection,etc are the cause of debate that never ends.

It means something that is revealed. Sometimes in a startling way. As in "I went to a third world country and the poverty was a revelation to me"
