It depends on what the fight is about and how strong you are to stand against, or for, whatever the case may be. The easiest thing a lot of people I know do is to walk away (Fight or Flight Theory) this keeps them from confrontation and gets them out of a fight that is going nowhere. Although, if it is during a dating or marriage relationship where one must come to a compromise, then it is best to stick it out and hear both sides of the story yours and hers. Then it will be easier to come to an agreement. Sometimes two people need a mediator (a neutral person) in the middle to make sure both parties involved stay on track and it doesn't get out of hand.
I hope this information helps you in anyway.

I think it's easier, both long and short term, to walk away. I would rather not hurt people, and if I hurt someone very badly while in a fight I would feel terrible. It's so easy to break bones, including back bones, that I wouldn't want to take the chance that I could go a little too far and permanently damage someone. Not to mention concussions, those can kill people! Not only that, but I refuse to give someone the kind of control over me that they would get if they made me lose my temper. I want to stay in control of situations, and I don't think it's possible when my temper has gained the upper hand.
I can't imagine me regretting walking away, but I can easily imagine me regretting fighting.

It's definitely easier to just let go of your higher instincts and just fight. Walking away when someone is trying to pick a fight with you is really hard, because part of you will think people are saying that you are too scared to fight. I think the main reason people fight to begin with is to save face, not because they actually want to fight.

Getting into a fight is easier than walking away. It's easy to run your mouth and put up your fists, but to walk away, you face different kinds of criticism like name calling. You are a better person to walk away. Look at it like a game, to fight you lose but to walk away you win. Nobody gets hurt.

Getting into a fight is usually easier--it's easy to let your emotions take over. Taking the high route and walking away from a fight...it takes guts.

Easier. Probably getting into a fight. You have to have real guts to be able to say 'Hey it's not worth it' and walk away. Fighting all you have to do is throw punches that make you feel better.

Getting into one is easier. After all, if you have the choice to walk away, you are already in a fight, even if the first physical blow has not yet been struck.
