If you're in the US, visit www.zillow.com
For most properties they have a feature that shows you an estimate of your homes market value. This is based on property tax rates and recent sales of neighboring homes. You can also see what neighboring homes are worth too. Check it out.

Pick up a property paper for your area and find houses that are similar to yours in terms of size, area, amenities and modernisation. (there may also be a version of the local paper available on-line )
If you want a more accurate figure, try contacting an estate agent and asking them to come and do a valuation.

Call your local appraisal district, some are even available online, you just give your address and see the appraisal of your home. If you need a new appraisal then you need to call a home appraisal company. also check your last years property tax records, it will show the value of your home on it.

You can go to your local county clerk's office & get information on recent sales in your area with comparable size & ammenities, or you can PAY for an appraisal.

I use this site on a regular basis,,, plus check locally for comparables. The market is driven more by supply and demand, rather than price.

Go to www.rightmove.co.uk - it's a database of houses for sale across the UK. You can search for your area and narrow it down to houses like yours.
