When standing still, like at a stop sign, the a/c is blowing very cool air. When you accelerate the air gets warmer, and at at 55 mph it is not even cool.
We thought there must be a leak so we had a leak test done but they said they could not find the leak. We had the system recharged but it did not help.
Any ideas ?

Probably a plugged filter in the receiver.

Some cars are made so that under acceleration, the air conditioner either cuts out or way back, so the power it is using will not take away from the car being able to accelerate. The power the a/c is using is cut so the car can have more power during acceleration. Maybe the settings are messed up, so that once heavier acceleration is done and the a/c should come back, is messed up and it stays powered down. Either something is sticking to keep it like that or if computerized, something has a hiccup in the computer. We have had some of the vehicles that are made for the a/c to cut back. I know it was really popular for most vehicles to cut the power to the a/c in the 1990's.

Have you checked for:
belt slippage?
worn pump?
air filter?
faulty controller
