If something has made you curious enough to ask you're probably experiencing the signs now. Keys will stick, or not work, etc. It'll basically make you want to throw it at a wall.

Maybe when the space bar doesn't work properly?

If you are typing and some keys don't work properly or stick and give you a whooooooooooooooooooooooooole string, then it may be time to get a new one.

Oh, also check for mushrooms around the function keys and if you type something innocent and it puts swear words up, that's another sign.

First check the connector to see if there's dust or it's loose. If the keys are sticking or you have to push them hard to get certain ones to work, then there's dust and junk in there and turning it upside down or blowing it out with compressed air might do it. They're cheap enough to grab another to get you through while working on it if it's an expensive unit.

Get another one, and see if it works better. They are only $10 to $30 dependiong on what you are looking for. Our keyboards at this house last maybe 6 months max.

If your keys stick or what you are typing doesn't go to your monitor after you've checked to make sure it's plugged in and your wires are straight, it's bad.

The Keys are old, they stick, and it takes you more than one push of the letter to type. And yes, it makes you wanna just take a hammer to it.
