No one gave me advice- I just learned from experience.
I didn't practice wearing heels- I just put them on and go. That's the best practice.
I know they aren't good for you, but I wear them on daily basis- I even wear them to work.
Heels are the most uncomfortable type of shoes- if they don't make them so pretty I promise I wouldn't wear them.
There are certain heels you can wear all day long & there are the ones you cannot b/c they're too painful.
I cannot wear pumps (closed & pointy toes) ALL DAY (although they look the best http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod27350096&parentId=cat6700735&masterId=cat000269&index=45&cmCat=cat000000cat000141cat000258cat000266cat000269cat6700735)- if I wear them to work I have to take them off while I'm sitting down b/c they'd hurt so bad. Plus the they give you corns too, so only wear them in moderation, & on very special occasions.
Open-toe pumps http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod26430086&parentId=cat6700734&masterId=cat000269&index=10&cmCat=cat000000cat000141cat000258cat000266cat000269cat6700734 and slides http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod27450141&parentId=cat7840746&masterId=cat000266&index=11&cmCat=cat000000cat000141cat000258cat000266cat7840746 are much more forgiving- personally I can wear these all day long . I don't find any brands particularly comfy, it just really depends on the shoes. That's why I never buy heels online b/c I have to try them on first.
If you have to wear closed-toes all day long, like I said above, stay away from the pointy toes ones- instead wear the round toes (or square) http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod29620328&parentId=cat6700735&masterId=cat000269&index=43&cmCat=cat000000cat000141cat000258cat000266cat000269cat6700735. I don't think they look as good but there are some pretty decent models out there.

My advice is :
First only wear them for short period of times. I know the girl on sex in the city walk around all day in theirs, but I'm sure by the end of the day they all just want to die. Wear them to dinner.....not to the mall.
Second make sure you have the right heel height for you. Some people can only pull off 3 inch and below. I can wear up to six. It depends on your arches.
Third make sure the shoes you have chosen are easy to walk in for you. Practice around the house. Take the pillows off the couch and the kids toys and scatter them around. Then try walking through the living room avoiding the clutter with your heels. Then pick it all up. If you can pull all of this off gracefully in the shoes you are wearing then you can make it through a crowded restaurant.

heels are pretty but find a heel you can walk in because there is nothing like having on a pair of heels that you are falling down in. they make alot of heels but i think if you find a good sturdy shoes you should be okay

My older Cousins would give me advice.
I was in beauty contests.......I'm only 5'1...so I wanted really tall high heels..........
First you need to walk up and down stairs on your tiptoes...(you'll get cramps at first).. find the shoes you want to wear...and Practice practice practice..............

practice in them at home before going out so your break them in and you can have confedients in walkin in them.
walk slow, heel toe, heel toe and walk on cement so it will prevent you from slipping, and don't go to high to fast start out little and work your way up

Don't unless you have to. They are uncomfortable and dangerous to ankles. If you must, only two inch or lower and use a Dr. School pad on the ball of the foot to relieve the pressure.
