"In more primitive insects such as dragonflies, each stroke of the wing is triggered by an impulse from the central nervous system. However, the central nervous system in insects cannot fire impulses at 200 times a second. Dragonflies can only beat their wings at about 20-30 times a second compared to a thousand times in some flies." (1)

"The turn in mid-flight is carried out by the forewings alone. By varying the amount of forward thrust or lift in these wings is the fly able to flip over in mid-flight. If you would like to know more about insect flight, then check out the university library, which should have several titles." (2)

I really enjoy reading those words, simply, going with the flow...
I was feeling like no confusing thought into my mind while "meeting" your "question", feeling an active serene happiness inside me...

I suppose it is because I like watching dragonflies flying!

Thx for posting such a serenity-inducing question!

And guess what? I just wished to post a cool picture of a dragonfly, and I have just found: "Emperor Dragonfly"!!!

Wooo hooo: i feel this is a kind of cool synchronicity! :-)
