This bug is an Isopod called a Pill Bug, or more commonly, a Rollie Pollie.

That is an easy answer, just go to Orchard supply or other home and garden store, and go to the garden supply area and look at the garden pest products. I found my answers on the containers or packages. Most all of them lists the different pests and shows pictures of what they look like.

no longer having a image, it really is a difficult one. No insects with regards to grasshoppers have a swish flight - they tend to waft and flutter. I reckon you talked about between the biggest Ichneumon Flies - Rhyssa persuasoria, or some appropriate species. They do have large orange legs, they do look very agressive and venomous (yet are innocuous), and fly fairly slowly round the floor as they provide the effect of being for larvae to position their eggs on. they actually have in most circumstances divided tails (ovipositors). they are in many circumstances very large - you're fortunate to have considered it.

It sounds like a "pill" but....what's it doing to your garden?
