Doing good for the world wouldn't be dividing his wealth. He's spending his money (of which not all is liquid, most is in Microsoft stocks, real estate, etc) on disease research.
That's much more honorable than splitting up a pie. The effects are longer lasting.

There would be no way to divide equally a sum among people of the world. Since philanthropy is based on need, we know many people have greater need than others. Philanthropy as private as his, lends him the opportunity to select "causes" he wishes to directly affect. His work that earned him this fortune also earns him the right to direct the dollars at his discretion.

Bill Gates is already doing "some good to the world" through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (www.gatesfoundation.org). I would gladly pledge my $13 share in his fortune if it would help someone who truly needs it.

Why is it that ppl with NO money are always insistent on disbursing money of someone with lots of money? If you were to meet Bill Gates face to face would you ask him for the money he worked so hard to get? I doubt it! Besides, the chances of someone like us meeting and having an actual conversation with someone like him are slim to none. If you want Bill Gates 13 or so dollars why not work to make your own. We live in a society that gives us the benefits of making just as much money as Bill Gates, and to be perfectly honest I would rather have my own money than be dependent on someone Else's.

Everyone in the world would receive less than 14 dollars. Not much good could come from that. Let him use his money with his foundation, where he can really do some good.

The question is moot. And anyway, it's 52 billion, not 90 billion.

Yeah, like that's going to happen. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I'm glad he has a foundation to help the less fortunate - others should follow his example.

He is going to end up giving more than money to the world. With research on the worlds health/disease problems, and improving education, he will help make the world a better place. "If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day, if you teach him to fish, he will eat every day...."
