First, when you look for a hotel in Vegas consider this. All of the big hotels on the Strip are great. The most important things to consider are location, price, and in the summer you want to consider its pool area. So, stay on the strip in the center of all of the hotel locations so that you can walk to see all of the hotels and casinos, and all of the free attractions. The best place to stay to do that is in one of the hotels on or nearest to Flamingo Rd & the Strip. At that corner is Ceasers, Bellagio, the Flamingo, Ballys, and the Paris hotels. I am not saying you need to stay in one of these but stay close to them. I do recommend the Flamingo if you are looking for a good price, location and pool.

The next thing to consider in picking the BEST place is price. Rates go down in the summer (and again after Thanksgiving, until about mid-January (except new years eve when prices double)). So pick a place that has the best price for you. Ceasers and Bellagio will cost top dollar all of the time (like $150 and up) per night during the summer. Flamingo, Ballys and some others you can get into for around $100 (but most times for less) during the low seasons. Its also more expensive in all Vegas hotels on Friday and Saturday nights by $40 to $60 more, so to get a lower rate go Sunday and stay through Thursday night.

In the summer you probably want to spend some time at the pool areas which in Vegas are fabulous. All of the big hotels have great pool areas. But the Mandalay Bay, Monte Carlo and MGM hotels have wave pools, and lazy rivers for tubing or body floating. The Flamingo has a water slide (not big but nice and refreshing) and also a water fall.

I have stayed at Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, MGM, Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Ceasers, the Rio, the Flamingo, Ballys, and Harrahs. But the BEST place for me when I go is who has the best price. Again, all of the Strip hotels are great. So shop the web sites, look at the hotel rate calendars, and go when the price is the lowest. That's the best place to stay on the Strip.

You can probably get lower priced rooms at the Circus Circus, Sahara and Rivera on the north end of the Strip and also at the hotels on Fremont Street. But you will be a long way from the center of action and have to take a bus or taxi to Strip action. In addition, if you need to run to the room for a little R&R, it’s a long ways.

I say stay at Bellagio it's the best. But you have to see all the different sights on the strip.
You have to see all the casinos on the strip at least once and Downtown if you're into the "Old Vegas".
On the strip I would visit everything from Wynn to Mandalay Bay all the rest are a waste of time.

When I went I stayed at the MGM Grand and loved it, but I took a few days to see all the major hotels. When I go back I'm staying at either the Bellagio or the Venetian. If money isn't an issue i'd go with the Bellagio. It's beautiful and it's located about midway through the strip. You're going to have a blast!!!!

I've gone by myself several times, but $ is always a big deal for me. If it weren't, I would stay at the Mirage, Luxor, or Paris, which are all really pretty with fun themes, good restaurants, and great locations. If you can really splurge, the Venetian and Caesars are totally gorgeous and first-class. The shopping areas at both are amazing just to wander through, and they also have great clubs. You're so lucky. I'll be in Vegas by Friday, but on a budget, as usual!

I stayed at the Bellagio last time and am going back this weekend. Got a great rate on the bellagio web site, and upgraded to a strip view. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable.

My sister raves on the Caesar's Palace new towers and my friend stays at the Harrahs because they give her points on that frequent user card. Harrahs seem to have easy comps just by using the card.

I like the MGM. It's on one end of the strip which makes it a good starting point. It's easy to get in and out of. The Tropicana is right across the street, if you like cheap tables. Easy walking distance to Paris and Bellagio.

Ya, I'd have to agree...stay at the Bellagio. Right in the middle of the strip and a beautiful place.

Go to www.i4vegas.com. They show you rates and pictures and then you could see for yourself instead of having people telling you which one to go to and not seeing what you are getting yourself into. IM me after GH and tell me what's going on. Why are you going by yourself??
