we recently were given a new director for our ER. the only candidate for the job and a charade of an interview process-given questions ahead of time. Boss wanted this person in spite of numerous warnings not to do it.
Now this person is wreaking havoc in the department ,treating professionals like children, clling at all hours of the day and night, interrupting doctors and nurses in the middle of patient care to take care of her issues. Is literally clueless because she has no ER or critical care experience. she's only been on the job 2 weeks and already people want to quit, including the manager. senior managemen doesn't want to hear it because then the decision maker to hire her will look bad. what can we do go above the decsion makers head? or quit our jobs. she has to go!!!

She won't last. Give it time and she will self-destruct. I've seen it happen over and over. Meanwhile, just keep doing your job the best you can, and stay away from the politics. It will take patience but it will turn out OK.

Best of success.

If you've gone the route of speaking to this person directly about her unprofessional behavior -which may stem from ignorance - and If she still doesn't want to listen, go to the supervisor. If he won't listen, pray her out.
You do your job and respond with as much integrity as you can, and let GOd do the changing. I once worked with a gal who had an unreasonable dislike for me, (over having to share some equipment my department needed that she wanted) and made my life miserable. I did my job , tried to be friendly, prayed, and she got transferred. (Actually, her husband did and she had to go with him...yes!)

It's not easy having to do right when others act like jerks, but it's more impressive when God takes care of the situation for you and in better ways than you could have planned. Will be looking forward to that good report, if this is how this works...this is my first time doing this.

God bless...
