i dont think they can fly that high, atmosphere and all might burn them up! ?
even space shuttles need special protection... :)

They do set off in that direction everyday, but it gets dark before they reach the sun, so they go back to light bulbs until sunrise :)

they are not attracted to bulbs themselves, they navigate with the help of moon, so if they want to fly straight, they fly with constant angle to the moon. so if they mistake the bulb for the moon they would eventually get too near and fly in smaller and smaller spirals around it until they crash- this can never happen in case of the moon.

1. moths sleep during the day. 2. they are not attracted to light. they are attracted to the dark shadows around the light.

because a light bulb is much closer and reachable then the sun, just cause they are insects dosent mean they are idiots.
