If all the politicans family members were sent to Iraq, How long do you think this war would be going on for. I bet they would have pulled our troops by now. Especially if one of their own got hurt or killed.

No way would the war still be going I am a firm believer that if people in power want to send people to fight wars then they themselves should go into a remote jungle and fight the other sides politicans and leave the every day person out of it and that way innocent people would not die for no reason

No, you're operating under the false premise that all people are as self-involved as you are.

For instance, everyone enlisted in the military right now did so of thier own free will and conscience, knowing the purpose of the military is to defend our national interests, and knowing that all of thier orders come from the Chief Executive Officer (that's the President...).

Many of these same individuals and their families realize that the world is larger than themselves and their extended families, and that the sacrifice they make is a virtue.

In those same respects, politicians devote their lives to the pursuit of goals in line with what they believe will benefit the American public. If you think for one second that politicians don't value human life, or don't consider the possibility of death in war, you're far more naive than even your question makes you out to be.

It's that they've been democratically elected by the public, and they've spent their lives acquiring knowledge and training, and they have a resource of willing participants (the military) to use to serve and protect those that elected them. It's all really a beautiful system. A few politicians have f--ked it up for countless others, but you just lack the understanding necessary to have a meaningful conversation about any of it.

Many politicians have loved ones fighting in Iraq & other places in the war on terrorism. To ask if "all" of their family members were sent off to fight in Iraq is absurd. The question being asked implies that this war is unnecessary & severely undermines the intellegence of the American people. The U.S. is in real danger of future attacks and freedom as we know it is at risk. This is not a matter of , "Hey, let's just not fight & they'll go away." Terrorist cells must be dealt with wherever they exist & America must protect itself against countries that pose a threat
Our valliant troops will come home when the job is done, and with them will be thousands of sons, daughters, neices, nephews, aunts & uncles of Politicians.

It's hard to say they wouldn't but one things clear, the ones that count, those pushing the war haven't. Their kids (male and female) aren't even signed up for the army, therefore they're not going to Iraq or any other war anytime soon. So while we can't tell what they would or wouldn't do for sure - we can investigate based on the evidence. So it's doubtful to me that there would even be a war if their kids had to be the ones fighting it. I mean - if the only time you visit the war zone you're safe on a carrier or there unannounced for a day or two then is that some place you'd send your kid to fight?

All of the people in Iraq (and Afghanistan and everywhere else we have military) are people who chose to be in the military. It's their job. I'm sure SOME politicians have family over there, just not every politician does. And even if they all did, I don't know that that would change anything.

under no circumstances do I think the war would be going on if congress had to send their relatives to Irag. It is easy for someone to tell another to go and fight for your country. The president says we will stay in Iraq for the long haul but will the war be over before he leaves office?

Nope! Do you.

Bush isn't done yet!!

"After standing on the stage, after the debates, I made it very plain, we will not have an all-volunteer army. And yet, this week— we will have an all-volunteer army. Let me restate that."
—Bush, showing signs of confusion (yet again) at an Oct. 16, 2004, campaign stop in Daytona Beach.

No, of course not. Politicians don't mind messing around with other peoples families but if its their family they don't want to know. No one pisses on their own doorstep do they?
