Well, your probably doing slow-pitch softball right? Well, the difference is that the pitcher will throw it underhand (you probably already know that) and the ball has to have an arch on it to be a legal pitch. You just have to wait on it and hit line-drives when you are batting, and of course its a bigger ball (thats not soft). If its just a friendly softball game then the pitcher probably will not put any spin on the ball (In competitive leagues they may try to spin the ball like a curveball or slider). Its harder to catch the ball because its so big, so make sure you secure it with your other hand. Also in almost every softball league, first base is like two bases put together so the first baseman puts one foot on the base towards the infield and the runner touches the base on the other side for safety. You cant steal until the ball reaches home plate (because the pitcher throws so slowly). One last thing, you must look the ball into the glove on grounders becuse if the balls just a little off, it will bounce of your glove to the side or behind you. You should easily adapt to it after your first at-bat. And a practice or two.

The difference between baseball and softball are the following.
Softball uses a bigger ball
Softball is pitched underhand while baseball is overhand
The fields in softball are shorter than baseball
Softball uses medal bats instead of wood
The rules are the same in both sports.
Pitchers mound is closer to the plate as well.

There is a total differnce between to two sports....the picting is different...the stealing bases are different because in softball you can't leave the base until the pitcher has pithed in baseball you can leave befor the pither has pitched ...so rreally stealing in baseball is harder....of course the ball is bigger in softball and the bat is wider...I think there are more different pitches in softball than in baseball.

the bats are also different. the softball are skinnier and longer. you also can't lead off of a base as a runner in softball, or pickoff as a pitcher.
