Well, I hope so! That would be a world premiere but while waiting, remember that an african nation already won the commonwealth or olympics games!

There has been talks about African nations winning the World Cup since Cameroon got into quarter-finals in 1990 and Nigeria showed a promising young team in 1994, and also because the success many African countries have had in many youth tournaments. Their quality has been steadily improving and now they have a lot of people playing in the best clubs all over the world. The problem is that to win a World Cup you need a lot more than good players... things that take more than just a few years to achieve. So, my prediction, I don't think they'll win a World Cup before 2020...

Ghana making it as far as they did was because they cheat. They like to kick people in the shins and in the back of the knees. Thats how they beat the US team. Brazil wasn't going for that. Notice that Ghana has had many red cards in the past few games. I dont see an African nation winning a world cup in my lifetime.....which will be long since i'm only 20 yrs old. I think that the US has a better shot if they let the women's team play for them but the womens team wants their rules and FIFA wont go for that either.

12 years at the earliest. The thing I've noticed about African nation teams is their lack of balance. If they are strong defensively, they are weak up front. And vice-versa.
The quality of scoring goals when needed was evident in the Ghana game versus Brazil. If Ghana were able to capitalize on their chances, we could have witnessed the biggest upset at the World Cup in the last 20 years. But that didn't happen and that needs to improve if any African team is to be contenders for the World Cup title.

I think African nation will win the World Cup after 2010 or 2014. Because Europe has some Africans player on them. Likes France has many blacks players, also Germany, England has too.

An African country won't win until the continent can get itself together economically and socially. After all, how are you supposed to fund football academies when you can't feed your population? When one or more of Africa's nations finally stabilizes and they can establish a real professional league where other Africans could play and earn decent money, then Africa will have a legitimate chance at the World Cup. Until then they will continue to be easy prey for the big boys.

4 Years because for the first time the World Cup will be here in Africa and on African Soil the African sides are completely different sides than they are abroad. Further the support for them will be massive which is a factor not to be discounted. One thing is that the World Cup will be played in winter so that will suit the European sides but not noticibly because places like Durban have a sub tropical climate so will remain relatively warm. South African winters are much warmer than overseas winters.

I'm assuming at least at semifinals of 2010, there will be an african team, not only because it will be held at South Africa but also they were surprisingly well at this one.... i strongly believe that Cote D'Ivoire will be the team to watch at the next Cup, felt sorry when they got in to the deadly groupnonetheless they showed what theyre capable of at their clash with holland, and ghana also. Not to forget Nigeria,Egypt or Tunisia also........there are many good african teams, all they need is experience and "Teamwork"..... Why not?

Well, soon. If you think about it, France's team is full of french born africians, and even some that aren't french born but have french citizenship. Its just a matter of time..2010 maybe? The talent in africian nations is staggering, its just that they move to other countries. Countries like Ivory Coast should have done better, it was just plain bad luck that they didn't go farther. Their was alot of execellent players in that team.
Oh and shorty, you don't win against Czech Replublic and the US by simply kicking somebody in the shin. Ghana was just the better team and the highlights showed that.
