Well, there is alot more to this question than just the face. It sounds like you and he are together, however, your name is not on the mortgage, and he wants help paying the bill. And you either want commitment or a free ride. I would talk to him about it. If you are living in "his" home, you should help with the household finances, if possible, and to a certain extent. It depends on what state your in. If it is considered community property. If you are in a relationship or not. Was the home his prior to the co-habitation? Each state clearly defines what is community property reguardless of who's name is on it. Personally, if I were in a relationship and shared a home with someone, I would help pay the mortgage, but there would be clearly defined results should anything happen in the relationship.

No. If I wasn't married to him I'd help with utilities and food instead. If I was married to him I'd request my name be put on it first or I'd be history in his book. Be careful. Men can take advantage of that. I was married once, had a beautiful home that my ex-husband built just before we got married. I paid to finish the upstairs of the house. When we divorced I didn't get jack and he was the one who was cheating.
