the null hypothesis, england may not be world champions, is more likely tbh. I support england all the way, but it's not likely they'll win :( There is too much quality in the competing countries that it's impossible to say that england might be world cup champions, because at best, their chances are only as good as the worst in the final 8!

The only thing that England has is Beckham and he'll be facing Pauleta, Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Meniche. Given Deco and Costinha wont be there but it will still be 10 on 10 + goalies....Beckham won't have a chance at the ball for long because Portugal is hungry for this win!

It's only a hypothesis! Sorry mate, they still have a chance getting to the semi-finals, provided that they will play better than the last match with Equador! Portugal won't be an easy opponent! Let's just wait and see!

I can still see it happening. We'll have our work cut out against brazil, but England's lacklustre performance thus far may make the brazillians complacent - and if we can hold off Brazil, we'll have a very strong psychological/confidence advantage over whoever we meet in the final.

i dont think so ...well they hv a line of gr8 players (rooney, beckham, crouch, owen who is now injured, lampart, gerrard) but u c tat they cant play like brasil plays so they cant emerge as champion...got it
