Learning how to use a computer buy learning how to write programs that tell the computer how to work, how to gather information, creating a system from scratch. Very important.

It really is quite important to learn how to use a computer.
For example, I hardly receive any letters that are written by hand. The world is becoming very IT orientated. You need to use spreadsheets to record data, rather than a log book. People read e-books, rather than buying a paperback or hardback from the shops. Emails are sent rather than letters, and you can even speak across the internet rather than making a call. Computers are making this world less personal.

Nearly every job going today will involve IT or some sort of computer literacy. You need skills in IT to progress anywhere these days.
