Light does not need a medium to travel. It is independent of the medium. Because it does not have particle motion. Only sound depends on medium not light, its independent.

light is like a wave and wave doesn't need a medium to pass , just think about how sunlight reaches the earth, because there is no medium between earth env. and sun.that's y light doesn't need the medium to pass.or read the bhor theory i think...that should be sufficient to increase the knowledge about light or electron.

Light is an Electro-magnetic radiation.

Between two charged plates there is eclectic field even in vacuum.
Similarly magnetic field exists in vacuum.

The combination eclectic and magnetic field and their propagation is the electro-magnetic transmission or light transmission. Therefore no medium is necessary for the light to travel.

Light is an electromagnetic field distortion like radio waves or microwaves, light it is actually supported by the empty space, the very space is the one that is affected by the light and this field propagates supported on this distortion.
