Forget about the hype around England winning world cup. Even this year, they might be out of the world cup whilst still on quarter final. When will they ever win the World Cup?

They will win a world cup as soon as they win a final game.

i'm english and trust me, the only way you can watch them win the world cup is by inventing a time machine that lets you ride on into the past. I wish they would win and I support them 100% but their football has to be the least entertaining and they are also not too good collectively. I think they have the ability in the individual players to win the cup but I don't think they can work as a team and they certainly don't have the motivation to win for some reason. They make playing football look like a 9-5. Also, owen was a good chance for england to score a lot of goals this cup, but since he's out, no one can really fill his void. Walcott doesn't look like he'll be given a go and choosing him over Defoe and SWP was pathetic.
To answer your question, all england can do is play and pray. They have a good chance of beating a Decoless Portugal and I think their next opponents, Brazil/France are very beatable no matter how high they are ranked. Come on England!

England have a very good squad of players. They are all big stars for their respective clubs. But to win big matches, you have to play like a team. I dont think England plays as well as a team as other countries like Brazil or Argentina. i guess it depends on how well the players adapt to their roles in the team(different from their roles for their clubs) and how well they understand each other. The comfort levels between the players, the coach etc. there are always many factors why a certain team does really well while another great team with good players gets knocked out early. England have done ok to get till the quarters, they need to settle down quick and play hard to go further. Portugal wont be easy, and if they miraculously get past them, they might run into Brazil in the semis. so england have their task cut out.

Take advantage of the fact that Portugal has Deco out and play their hardest..otherwise..it doesn't matter very much..Lampard and Terry still haven't found net and Beckham only has 1 goal and Owen is hurt...
