Cinderella every time. When I was little I had the Cinderella Ladybird Book. In it the illustrations were amazing. Her first dress was shimmering pink and gorgeous. Her dress for the second ball was blue with white lace over it, divine. The dress her fairy godmother gave her for the third ball was breathtaking, it was white, gold, and silver, with what looked like sparkling diamonds all over it. The fairy godmother looked so kind and gentle that I used to wish I could meet her.
I still have the book and the pictures still make me feel like they did when I was a child! I now have the pleasure of reading it to my own daughter who loves it just like I did (and still do!).
I think I learnt that true beauty does come from within. If you are always kind, thoughtful, helpful and good then people will always think you are a beautiful person. I have already been rewarded with my handsome prince too!

There is a great set of fairytales with african american children.
This story is called, Afrotina and the Three Bears."
Afrotina (goldilocks) is a pretty spoiled girl who gets everything she wants. She doesnt think she has to follow rules and doesn't care about anyone's feelings. Everything about her is beautiful except her heart.
In the end, she has to fix all the things that she broke and learns that pretty is as pretty does.
It's what's on the inside that counts.

My favorite fairy tale has always been Sleeping Beauty. I think that what I get from it is that it can take a lifetime, but you will find your dreams.

Resourcefulness and Self-reliance produce spectacular results. And don't trust adults who live in houses coated in sweets!!
