I'd use 10 lb. ABC dry chemical fire extinguishers with a vechile brackets and make sure they have metal heads (so that they are safely rechargeable). They would be good for any type of fire you would encounter on a farm. As some stated, class "D" is for metal fires and wouldn't be very effective on fuel fires. As far as the UL rating is concerned, you'd be looking for about a 10A:60B:C rated unit.
Pressurized water units would be good in any area with a large amount of dry storage. But don't use the water units to put out fuel fires.

get a "10 BC" for each piece of equipment the uses fuel to run a motor.
the 10 means it can put out 10 squire feet of open fire and the BC part means good for both fuel and electrical fires.
don't get a class "D" those are for magnesium fires and are pricey!
