i had some weird "whores and pimps dress-up party" once. Of course i was the only guy dressed up as a prostitute.
all i can say is: i'm glad we don't wear the same shoes. Pumps really really hurt while walking on it. (and stockings itch like hell on hairy legs, but that's a different story). So, i guess we wear different shoes, because women can handle pain much better.

Why do men have one or two pairs of shoes and my last GF had.. well...I dont know but somewhere over 100 pairs..
I think there is a cultural difference that causes our shoes to be different.
However many women do wear mens shoes. The reverse is not true however, and the men that wear womens shoes are marginalised.

It's the fashion. Why women wear skirts and men don't?
Except for some anatomical differences, we should be wearing the same kind right? That's how society has evolved.
High heels are bad for women of any age. I do not know who came up with that fashion - it leads to problems of all kinds and women are willing to put up with the punishment of wearing high heels in the name of fashion.

Since about the time shoes were invented, the answer is fashion.
Example of how fashion changes. For a long time, high heels were a guy thing, then women took that over.

well men and womens feet are shaped differently, structually so i think that accounts for one reason
