i'm only saying this because Brazil were cheating their behinds off and were off side most of the time but neither the ref or linesman did anything about it.

erm they were blantly offside, being a linesman he has too see it, otherwise what's the point of having them there. the linesman up the end saw ghana's offsides fine. i wish that bald italian ref would come back he was cool!

Wow. Now that's a stupid question. In my opinion anyway.

Okay, The ref and the linespeople can only do so much, especially when it comes to offside. Admittedly, what we see on the T.V, and what the referee can see with his own two eyes, are completley different.

If the offsides are really that obvious, don't you think the linespeople would call it? And if they didnt, obviously those referee's would be under alot of scrutiny, not only by the media, but by FIFA as well.

The referee only has two eyes, and unfortunatley, they can only see in whatever direction their eyes are pointed at the time. Give them a break- while the players can substitute off during the game, the referee is stuck running back and forth for 45 minutes. Just relax- they are doing the best they can.

Those set-uppers have a bit of madness.
No one s-u manager spots the danger when choosing referee Rosetti? (Do you know, the Italian Referee Scandal? And Italy maybe Brazil opponent in the next second match?).
Anyway, are you sure the ref was so bad and 2 mistakes claiming an offside have changed yesterday match?
Judging Ivanov (Holland-Portugal) in the same way, what does he deserve? Exile?
By the way, that bald Italian was Collina (means Hill in english), and he was really one of the grater referees. Now he's 40. Has reached age limit for Italian federation.

Next to the English FA, FIFA have to be the least able bunch of morons in football. But corrupt? The way the seeding is set up certainly heavily favours the bigger footballing nations and that has to be reflected in the way England have managed to scrape through to the 1/4 finals. The stadiums are full of corporate 'clients' - but then you could say the same of any sporting event nowadays. Without the money big business brings to sport the world cup, Wimbledon, the Olympics et al would not be the events they are. If corruption is rife in sport then its probably an inevitable consequence of sponsorship. FIFA naturally want the bigger nations to be in the latter stages of the competition which is why the draws pan out in the way they do. If this is corruption then the answer to your question must be yes. But I think most of it is down to market forces and the need to keep the audience interested. Lets face it would you like to see England against Germany in the final or Ghana against Trinidad and Tobago?

Can you imagine a FIFA World Cup final with Ukraine vs Portugal?

Only teams with a tradition of great WC football attract worldwide following and interest - a dream final would feature anyone of these football-mad countries: Argentina, Brazil, England, Germany, Italy, France - all have won WC titles before.

Not implying anything but you'd wonder about refs' decisions sometimes against lesser nations....

Come on... just because of one thing that doesn't mean its a set-up. Referees, linesman, players and even coaches are human. To err is human... come on it's just a game !!!
