If you prefer the natural look, then go with the natural look. If other women want to wear makeup, that's their business, isn't it?
You can alo try "natural" makeup. The best on the market is the ARTISTRY brand:

It is probably a hangover from Tudor times when women first used cosmetics i.e. white lead to hide the disfigurement caused by small pox which was prevailent at the time. As women were treated as goods and chatels at that time and depended upon men to provide board and lodging, it was important that she looked her best. Prior to those times, it was still important to get a mate and there is evidence of using dyes such as woad as tribal customs in the early Europeans. Nowadays although women aren't as reliant on men, at least in the west, it has become part of our culture that make up must be worn in various circumstances and the lack of it would cause comment e.g. at work or going out to a night club.

Actually, I don't think it's women who do the "expecting"; it's the cosmetic companies -- they have convinced women that they "need" make-up to look beautiful and have a good sexy life. Horrible to market in this way (shame shame) but they know women will spend the cash to look good.
I know not all cosmetics are for looks, such as moisturizers, etc, but wear what you find comfortable and healthy for YOU, not what others expect you to wear!

I think women put more on the wearing of make up then men. My men have always liked 'the natural look' so do what you want just be you.

women aren't expected to wear cosmetics, wearing cosmetics is a choice. you can chose to enhance your look, or just stay with your look. if you feel comfortable with your natural look that's up to you, but you aren't expected to do anything. sure it's ok to wear when you dress up and everything, but still. some people wear cosmetics to cover up blemishes and stuff......is that such a crime??? and some men do wear cosmetics, cosmetics does not just include makeup, but mosturizers, etc.

Men don't expect that from women nowadays. Women are so liberated that they are not dependent on Men as providers.
In the good ol' days (I am talking centuries ago), women have to stay chick and pretty so that the man will continue to provide for her and stay interested. It is coming from that basis.
It does not exist anylonger. So, do what you think is best for yourself. You are not "expected" to do anything.
You do not have to measure up to anyone's "expectation".

No one expects women to do anything. Women like to look beautiful and makeup helps. Re men, who cares how they look.

i don't wear cosmetics and i don't feel i should do so unless i have really ugly to cover. i use creams and other cosmetic products but do not wear make-up and i don't feel the need to do so. let the women who feel they are ugly wear cosmetics to cover it up.
