Want some News about housing in the earthquake area of Yogyakarta/Indonesia ?

About ten thousand houses were distroyed, more than 7000 people died in the earthquake on May 27th in Yogyakarta and Central Java.
With the help of the government and other local and international organisations the population in the devasted area will hopefully soon be able to start rebuilding their homes.Many of them - or most - will use ASBESTOS material on their roofs instead of the formerly used tiles, because it is cheaper and lighter than tiles. That is very popular in Indonesia nowadays and people really have no idea at all, that asbestos might cause any problems !
Who can tell us, how dangerous is asbestos on the roof for the people living in these houses ?
I am very worried and concerned that this might become a time bomb and reduce even further the living quality in this country.
I live in the neighbouring town of Solo and help earthquake victims on a private scale to find logistics and donations.

The dangers of Abestos and it being the root cause to mesothelioma is pretty well known. Of course the smoking industry claimed for years that smoking wasn't hazardous for years. They even had scientists that would agree with them (you can pay some people to do anything). Proving the danger of asbestos may be difficult if industry wants to use it.
