An ADSL wireless modem won't work with a Telewest connection. They are designed to run on a standard BT line.

You must get hold of a Wireless Cable Modem/Router to make this work properly. If you bought it new, take it back and ask for a cable modem in replacement.

Alternatively, if you stil have the original Telewest modem, why not just buy a Belkin wireless router and plug that into the modem? All you need to do then is set up a wireless connection to the router for both PCs and there you have it!

Obviously this is not full instructionns on how to do it, but is completely possible to do it that way. I have BT line myself so ADSL is my method, but I have a good freind who is also on Telewest and there are a number of options available.

Summary: You need either a - Wireless Cable Modem/Router or
Wireless router/accesspoint

Hope this helps.

you want an Ethernet router, they in many circumstances are categorized "DSL/cable" router. The huge section port (internet) port on your router is RJ11 and has a modem on that connection. An Ethernet router may have an RJ45 connection and could no longer have an inner modem for the WAN port. because of this mix gadgets aren't any more consistently the superb decision. They be counted upon a particular connection type. An Ethernet router will aways require an exterior modem yet does artwork with known Ethernet connections from that modem. upload: if the Ethernet connection you've is fed from a router and under no circumstances a modem then sure you could attempt utilizing the former router as an get proper of entry to point. You log into it, disable dhcp server, connect the Ethernet to any of the LAN ports. then you definately use it as a swap/get proper of entry to point. The IPs needed can could be provided by utilizing the enter line!

Unless I am mistaken Telewest is a cable supplier and you are trying to use a ADSL modem which is for a phone provider.

I think you need to get a cable modem.
