Yes, sometimes it is true. Ask yourself if you feel he was sincere.
Take his word for it though and don't doubt him until he gives you reason to.Let him know you are there, but won't be a lapdog.

He is immature and inexperienced. My guess is you will take him back when he thinks he loves you and then do the same again some time later. Chill out and just stay friends for a while and don't give way to him so easily.

This is really good for you, before things escalate. Usually... well almost always (never heard of one that going the distance after that statement) he is wanting to play...give him the space he wants and find yourself another one. Better now than when you get the ring and babies...
