The appendix is a vestigal organ. This means that its essentially left over from evolution. It is thought that the appendix was much bigger and played a role in digestion in the diet of our ancestors who walked the planet a million years ago. Another example include the muscles that allow people to move there ears.

It is an evolutionary remnant . Some of our ancestor species used to be able to digest cellulose and use it as food by having specialised bacteria in their digestive system. The appendix is the remnant of the part of the digestive system where this cellulose breakdown happened

Actually it is a training ground for developing cells in the immune system.
It catches a little bit of everything we encounter, from stuff we eat, either knowingly or unknowingly, to things that we inhale that get stuck to the sides of our throats, which we then swallow when we eat or drink.
You can live without it, but cutting it out if it's healthy isn't in a persons best interests.

None. It is called a vestigial organ. It may have had some use in ancient times, but no longer does.
