I believe the last generation to truly have it right was my Grandfather's generation, he is now 93 yrs old.
After that, in my Fathr's generation, came vietnam, free love, women's lib, etc.. It was also the time when both parents had to work out of the home to make ends meet.
The world and so many people in it became more and more "busy" as time went on. Unfortunately, I believe it may never be the same as it was since for one, people don't stay put (put down roots) like they once did. And the generation after mine may not even know except through movies that we once befriended our neighbors instead of staying aloof of them.
How sad for all of us.

Technology has lead us to a point where socialization makes knowing your neighbor irrelevant.
Kids are allowed to sit for hours in front of a TV, or playstation, or a computer - which takes the place of the neighborhood baby sitter.
Parents work longer hours...and feel they deserve "time to themselves" each night rather than calling reading time with a child their personal time.
As we invert and ostricize ourselves...we become more anti-social and disrespectful.
The more we sit before a liberal media that floods our living room with nonsense that has a strong political agenda, the more we're sucked into the idea that if our neighbor isn't a republican or democrat or of the same viewpoint...they less they should be respected...

society has created a monster so to speak they have taken away parents rights to disapline and childeren have no longer got the respect from learning such as many of us did . All so many people now belive that people have to show them respect before it is given by them but truely if we give respect to someone else normally it is returned some even think we owe them which in fact no one owe's you anything unless they promised to pay it or pay it back but it is also from people have a lack of self respect that we honestly have learned not to respect them as well. i hope this is the answer you were looking for

People have forgotten what matters and are only out for themselves and take time for others only if it is beneficial to them in some manner. Somehow we have found ourselves overworked and overindulged. Our heart has been put on hold and the children of this generation of adults is going to pay a heavy price.

Because we have taken prayer out of school, and replaced our childrens imaginations with computers and video games.I agree with you i would love to see the simpler life return, when you had good neighbors, not ones you had to fear would take you for everything you own!God bless:O)
