You're not alone, I agree. The form of referees in this World Cup, and the previous World Cup was atrocious. Where do they get these people from?
You can't even tackle someone without getting sent off anymore! OK, over exaggerating, but people just go over so easily these days, and it isn't fair when people are carded because someone had dived.
At least Gyan(Ghana) was sent off yesterday for diving. Although, a Brazilian(i forget who) did roll over about 500 times before stopping, it looked like he was falling down a flight of stairs.

Actually, if the game you are referring to is the Holland vs Portugal game then in fact 14 of the 16 cards stood up to video scrutiny. The commentators aren't helping in that they now have got it into their heads they must berate every card given (eg Clive Tyldesley saying the 'Referee was a little trigger happy there' when a Dutch player had just practically maimed Cristiano Ronaldo - I have little sympathy with Ronaldo generally but in that case....). There have been some poor decisions - there always are, but mostly the refs have got things (as decreed by Fifa) right (except Graham Poll but even then, there's a case for believing that now yellow cards are so common under Fifa rules that perhaps it might make more sense to make 3 equal a sending off rather than 2). My one quibble is actually the other way - there have been massively inadeuqate numbers of yellow cards given for diving and injury simulation - all credit to Mr Michel yesterday for booking Adriano.

Wow. Now this is something I can answer. I'm a referee myself here in Canada, and I'm definately going to stick up for these guys.
The point of refereeing is to follow the laws of the game, no matter what. 16 yellows in one game? Completley understandable. The players know the laws, and if they choose to break them, then they suffer the concequences.
At this current time, I'm only doing Canadian reffing, but when I referee representative, I've given out 10 yellow cards in one game. It's not the referee's fault what he does. He goes onto the field with the only thing he has: control over the game and his knowledge of the laws of the game.
The laws of the game are simple; if players followed them, referee's wouldn't have to give out 16 yellow cards a game.
If your really that fussed about how many cards are being given out a game, I suggest you complain to the players recieving them- their the ones recieving them because of their behaviour. The referee is merely doing his job.

Agreed, to a point. The refs are doing what they have been told to do by FIFA's committee on referees. The refs are getting evaluated every game. Some, regretfully, just took their marching orders and forgot the flow of the game.
On the brite side, if local and national leagues now follow through with cards for violent or professional fouls then in the next cup we will see more skill and fewer cards.

Like merely approximately the different referee born under the equator, this sport's referee became damaging. - I observed 2 clean corner kicks on the commencing up of the adventure that have been referred to as as purpose kicks. the 1st one became a shot that became slightly deviated by ability of between the Mexico defenses, and the different became the shot that Conejo slightly blocked. - The ref ought to have redcarded Alfredo Pacheco and Guillermo Franco for pushing and punching one yet another for the time of yet another corner kick. - i'm nonetheless not confident there became a undesirable on Mexico that deserved the penalty. - Cuahutemoc Blanco became not offside while he scored what might have been the two-2 for Mexico. - merely 'reason followers for the residing house team call a handball and penalty does not mean there easily became one. - What became up with in user-friendly terms 4 better minutes interior the 2d a million/2? those Salvatruchas wasted a minimum of 6 minutes merely making time!!!!

I think that the way the players are playing nowadays they deserve all the yellow cards they get,, most tackles in prof. football are a foul, yes it does ruin the game when the ref keeps giving out free kicks, but he is not the one committing the foul the players are, and so they are the ones spoiling the game.
