You hear about the stereotype of beauty queens saying they want world peace, but people sneer at this, like in Miss Congeniality (I know it's a film, but it can mirror people's views). I think World Peace is great thing to want.

The probability of world peace is sneered upon because, although it is, in theory a wonderful thing, the possibility of it becoming a reality is so minute, one may as well wish for a unicorn!
Sorry, but real life is much harsher than that, and the standard 'world-peace' answer is old, tired, and transparent.

Of course it's a great thing to want, but be realistic, there are about five billion people on the planet seperated into many different countries, each with their own culture, religion, history, language etc. Why would any one of those people want to focus on an issue as big as world peace. That is why we are supposed to have Governments, The UN, NATO etc. It is enough for one person to live a good life in their own locality ( there is much help that is needed there ) without trying to focus on mega issues, like world peace.

Governments, after all, have a right to disagree with each other, just like people do. I think that the only way that you would ever get world peace would be by letting a world dictator rule everybody with an iron fist, then nobody would dare step out of line. That would be the ultimate in control freakery though and nobody would be free.

Any sensible person would want world peace, but wanting it does not make it happen. You could also argue, that by focusing on such a large issue you are opting out of living a normal life and helping people who need it on a day by day basis. Your answer to these people might be " don't bother me with trivia I have to worry about world peace". Nice easy cop out, because you don't actualy have to do anything.

A final point, if all five billion people decide to work for world peace, they would fall out over how to achieve it and, thereby, breakdown into seperate factions.

There is nothing wrong with wanting World Peace. It's just that people define the word Peace in different ways. Some people say, "Live and Let Live..." others will only accept their own definition of Peace. Peace can only be achieved when the individual Ego is suppressed to allow the goodness in ALL people to surface.

I think the sneering is not about wanting world peace which is an admirable ambition, but the lack of originality in Beauty Queens answering this, it has become a cliche.

I agree, its a great thing to want but I think the reason it is sneered at is because it's so unfeasable and is never going to happen. There will always be some conflict going on somewhere in the world over something-even if it is trivial. Unfortunately, these are the sad facts of life.

Nothing wrong in wanting World Peace. I think the stereotype comes from the fact that women are treated like cattle in those contests. Better ways to get a scholarship.

Cause it is a cliché and we are sick and tired of hearing them want world peace. Everybody wants peace! They have to be more creative. But if you are supporting the idea that they are beautiful and dont need to be intelligent, I will keep quiet.

Well if we have continuous world peace, all the "third world rabbits" will have the whole world over populated in 50 years
