What's wrong with Pot? Not a thing. Pot is a natural substance that is created by nature and not by man. It is far less damaging than alcohol and far less addictive. Alcoholics have very dramatic lives (my parents were alcoholics, my grandfathers and uncles) I've been a pot smoker for 20 plus years now and I am peaceful and calmer and more responsible than any alcoholic I've ever known. We are not bad people and need to come out of the closet already.

as with most psychoactive substance marijuana impares judgement via neurotransmission changes to serotonin, norepinephrene, and dopaminergic paths. THC in it's self is powerful chemical, however marijuana (like tobacco) contains other chemicals linked to cancer.

Pot may seem innocuous to the user because of impairments in judgement. But long term motivation problems become a real psycho-social concern. While most pot smokers use the substance in there teens and twenties, long term pot smokers have clearly defined issues related to poor job performance, poor situation control and poor peer interaction skills.

I smoked pot a lot when I was younger. It did not lead to any other drugs and like a lot of us at my age, it's like you just stop at a certain point in your life and may dabble in it once in a while as the years go on. I think it should be legalized.

Bad for your cardio respiratory health. Makes you OK w/ being bored. Health risk out way benefits, even if your on chemo. I think doctors want to put a new delivery system on the market so there's no damage to the lungs...kind of like the nicitrol inhaler. It's just not legal yet. It is effective for headaches and nausea but the delivery system is still bad for you.

Well, as long as you don't mind sitting in a prison cell with a fried brain with the capacity of applesauce, then its generally fine.
But then i have to wonder why this is an earth sciences question, and not a health question or legal matter...

Basically it kills you.

The active ingredient (THC) is fat soluble. This causes 2 problems;
1. It is not purged from your system as quickly as water soluble drugs, so it hangs around longer and does more damage.
2. There are large stores of fat around your brain (to protect it from impacts) so the THC gathers close to your brain and screws around with it.

You also have the same problems associated with smoking anything. (Throat cancer, lung cancer, can't breathe properly, bad breath, etc.)

Stick to alcohol, it's legal in more places and better for you.

Edit: for all of you people who think that anything natural can't hurt you, eat a couple of rhubarb leaves, then get back to me.
