Sorry. That's hard. Maybe it wasn't just the age factor. He may have had education and skills you didn't. Or maybe one of his relatives helped get him the job. Do you still want to work there? If so, contact the human resources department to find out what other jobs are or will be available. Good luck.

If they have not gotten someone for the job, you might still stand a chance. The way you doubt the company shows the lack of confidence in yourself. Cheer up dude, Your 30yrs of experience might just be what they r look for :)

to say they were looking for someone younger is called discrimination and is against the law. but just because someone younger was hired doesn't mean that's what they were looking for. perhaps that applicant had the skills and knowledge they were looking for and was just a better "fit" with the company.

The truth hurts, and pain is not fun. Ignorance is bliss man. And the truth is, the person who didn't tell you probably felt very self-righteous. like "oh man, I just spared this guy some bad news, i'm such a nice guy for doing it behind his back" but in reality you ended up getting hurt more, right?

Are you of the opinion that the younger should remain unemployed and the oldies only should get the jobs?
