Alot of times the man just had a 1 night stand and the woman becomes pregnant. When this happens there is no bond no relationship, no feelings. The 1 night was based on Lust, SEX and had no meaning other that gratification for the moment! These men in this situation are not DADs they're sperm donors!

When a child is born where there is a bond and a relationship the father of this child will be in the childs life. There is no pressure to be a DAD.

Im afraid I cannot answer that precisley, but if I were to make a comment it would be that the "dads" in question do not know what they are missing. I am "dad" to 5 children and father to 3. that is 3 are "biologically" mine.In my family neither myself or my kids recognise the term stepdad or step child or step brother or sister. it is simply dad sister or brother. this is not from my teaching but from my children and they are no different than any others. they fight and argue with each other as usual but dare anyone else get into it and they suddenly become "family". One of my kids is from my ex partners marriage and another is one I informally fostered as her so called family life was not something you would wish on your worst enemy. I was told I was mad to get involved but I could not walk away. What I have now is a Daughter that any man would be proud to call his own and I thank the lord that I stuck with it. I am not looking for compliments while saying this because I have benifitted greatly from this as you could not ask for a more loving, helpful and caring child and the pleasure I got from watching her grow into a beautiful young talented woman has paid me back a hundred fold. I think this has to do with how these men grew up (or did'nt)themselves.I am sure that later in life they will regret their decision and hopefully it will not be too late to make a relationship with these kids.My son has no interest in looking for his Father and my daughter unfortunatley cannot as he died when she was small. It is also down to you in part,If you are open to giving them the room and space to be dad and son then you should be praised and be proud of your part in giving your child what he needs and his Father the room to be a good dad. . god bless.

Im not sure real men can !
I only get to see my little girl every three weeks as its a 1400 mile round trip and thats as often as i can make it, we try to make up for it five times a week on the phone but sometimes you cant do any more than you can do.
I have two friends that because of spite or revenge are stopped by there ex, personaly i think thats evil and have seen many children that, when they are older and find out the truth have rejected the parent that prevented contact. Certainly not in the best interest of the children.
Then again, there are the loosers who find them too much of a burden, cant even contemplate whats going on in their mind!

Some women will make it difficult for a man to see his child without a court order. Other times the man may have a major drug habit which keeps him focused on that.
Other men have babies with many women and are mostly concerned with keeping the woman they're with now happy. Other reasons including being out of work, with no money, food or roof over your head.

The easiest way is to simply not be around physically. I don't see how someone can "abandon" a child if they live in the same town or whatever but I can see how a child and a father can have distance if they live in separate areas.

I really don't think there is any one answer to this. It is a very complex and personal issue and I think case to case there would be such a wide variety of reasons. Remember though only a small percentage of men (and women) do this and the majority are loving fathers.

I don't know how anyone can do it but for me personally it would be impossible to just ignore the fact that i have a son or daughter. I would like to be a father to them no matter what.

I have know it the other way round. The mother (my sister-in-law) left her 2 year old girl, her two kids from a previous marriage (one which had leukaemia), she stole money from the kids savings and ran of with another bloke who she had been having an affair with for six months previous. Unbelievable but true.

I guess they abandon it before they get all teary eyed and stuff. I mean, a mom can't do this, she gave birth to the baby itself so the only person left is the dad.
