There is a werid sound and a jerk everytime im driving...it feels like it gettin caught on something and than it frees. Do anyone know what the problem might be and the solution in solving this problem? I drive a 1999 Ford Explorer 4wd...4door...hope someone can help me...Thank You For Your Time

Transmission, linkage or something internal around the first gear clutches......or possilby the torque converter not locking up right....get to a transmission shop ASAP, the longer you wait, the more damage occurs and the more it costs.....safety is in question too.....

Have you changed tires lately?? I hope they are all the same size. It sounds like you have a real problem with your transfer case. Are you driving it in 2wd? Take the front drive shaft out to try to narrow it down. If the problem stops after that, then you definitely have a transfer case problem. Also check the ball joints. These manufacturers are using cheap metals in the differentials and suspension. Explorers are notorious for needing lower ball joints on the front.

what kinda noise is it? does the front end shimmy any when you apply the brakes?
