I like your question - it's very interesting.

I think Ennis was more deeply in love with Jack. Jack was able to contemplate other relationships with men and he did go off with other men (I think it was in Mexico) to have sex with them. OK, maybe that wasn't love, just sexual relations. However, Ennis didn't do that - he was always faithful to Jack.

Also, after Jack was killed, Ennis still went on loving him as he made a figure of Jack with his clothes on the door of his closet and still spoke to him. Ennis loved him so much that he still felt that he had to communicate with Jack about what was going on his life.

As far as who do I like more, that's harder to answer. I really like Jack - he was very direct, honest, passionate with Ennis. He was an extrovert - he was willing to show his feelings.

Ennis was more introverted and wanting to play it safe because he was afraid of the consequences, which was very understandable. I really liked Ennis at the end of the film because then he really shows the depth of his love for Jack.

Whichever character Heath Ledger played, I think he loved the other guy more. Jake Gyllenhall's character was always talking about sex and how it was hard for him to go without it for so long. Plus, he went with that prostitute. I dunno, honestly, that movie made me uncomfortable, but I guess I liked Heath Ledger's character more because he seemed more sensitive.
