Not all black people act "tough" as you say it. That is another stereo-type and it's wrong. Seems to me like you're then one acting tough. In your details you mention that you've fought a lot black guys. Do you go around looking for fights to get in? I mean I know that black people just don't come up to you and try to pick a fight with you everywhere you look. Lets be honest with ourselves instead of twisting reality into a story that's not true.

That's a stereotype. All black men do not believe they are "thugs". Its probably the places and people you deal with that would put you in that situation. If you a fighting people;having people swing brooms at you, then your acting "thuggish" at the same time. It takes two to fight...just walk away and find a different environment to be around. Please stop say black men...you been watching too many movies.

Try imagine for just one sec. ( no way u can endure longer) to have black skin. Now remember what black people have lived through since the beginning of time. How would that kind of burden make u act?
I am white too but I am ashamed to wear this skin after centuries of white men selfishness .
Hope u get knocked out the next time u encounter more naturally equipped race!

You seem to have a good bit of mouth yourself...but bear w/ me pls. as i try to give a comprehensive explaination of a possible cause for the black man's need to be macho...I can tell that u yourself now take an aggressive and hard stand on ur position that most black men think that "they are thugs" and that "they are all mouth." I've seen a lot of questions at yahoo answers about why black people this and why black people that. The only conclusion that i can come to is that today's white youth have no idea what so ever what the black race has just recently gone through in America. Too often, they think that the civil rights movement and the racist hatred that inspired it is a thing of the past. When you are under or not much older that 20 yrs of age yourself, 40 yrs ago might seem like a long time but trust me, when it comes to social issues, changes, and there influence on an entire race, it may as well be yesterday. Think about it, there are a great number of people who are still alive from a time period where blacks where considered and treated as 2nd class citizens. Just as well, there are just as many oppressive racist who are still alive today. Back then black people had to be submissive and had to all but bow down when a white person so much as crossed their path. But after black people stood up and became freed from the bonds of bigotry, they found that the power behind speaking out and no longer had to take crap off from the white america. It is possible that now, as a result of many overwhelmingly negative experiences, that black men and women now go to the extreme opposite of submissiveness. I don't know if white america knows this, but today, especially in the southern states, many black parents tell their children not to take anything off of any white person. Remember, those people who were persecuted merely on on the basis of their race are still alive and well today. They tell their children about what went on in 1965 and before. I am sure that their parents told them about their experience and the parents of their parents' parents told them about slavery. So, get the idea now? Even if white america has forgotten all the murders, rapes, and beatings that have happened over the last 400 yrs. black america still has the memory of those things embedded in its current culture and tradition. By the way, just like 40 yrs is not so long ago by a sociological development and an anthrapological point of view neither is 400 yrs. People both consciously and unconsciously pass on what they experience to their children. Don't u believe that an alchoholic can pass on his bad habit to his children and they to their children. Haven't u heard the same thing about a person who has been physically abused by his father. Now, with that knowledge, apply that scenerio to a whole race of people. Try to imagine tens of millions of harshly abused individuals and the way that abuse would effect them. Then imagine how it would be if they just suddenly freed from the abuse and someone said "ok now, just go and try to live a normal life." Easier said than done now isn't it? They then have to start their lives over from the bottom of societies cultural barrel. Now the hardships and predjudice that still exist for them when the KKK is harassing them and burning crosses in their yard if the give the apperance that they might be becoming strong and successful individuals. Not to mention the murders committed during lynchings. By the way, most of the time these murderers where never prosecuted. Now try and imagine the memories and traits that people who endured these experiences would pass on to their children. Now imagine the reaction the children would have when they finally had the power to speak out. Many whites don't understand how many black people can still be upset about slavery. Well, i just explained how in detail. Today's black people now serve as a repository and conduit for the anger that their fore-fathers could not express. This proves without a doupt that the negative effects of slavery still live on and with good reason too. These things don't just disappear and are forgotten because they can't just disappear and be forgotten. In high school science u learn every action has an opposite and equal reaction. Just think of the anger and aggressiveness that many black people express today as a delayed reaction....

Hmmm. It seems to me like YOU are the one trying to act tough. So you you're big and bad just because you took down some black men? Jesus teaches us that, "Whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also."Matthew 5:39. You seem to have aggresion towards our race. Well here is the answer to your question:
I myself live in the Thomasville housing projects in Atlanta, GA. Have you ever been inside a housing project before? Well, this is my world, and everyday in my world I have to defend myself from people. Almost everyday or every week I get into fights with people. People here fight to stay alive. My people, Afro- Americans that is, have fought since the days of slavery. This is why we have the "tough guy" image. You should thank your own race for giving us this image. 400 years of slavery can make people act tough when they come out of it. But im sure you wouldn't understand this. Or maybe you do. I hope I have enlightened you. May God bless you and keep you.

You must live in a city. One with crime and problems other than rude people and traffic violations. Though I came from a non-crime oriented, rural town, I did get in a few fights in school. To me, whenver people feel threatened they either run away or act tough. So, these guys you ran into must have fealt threatened by you or their immediate surroundings. I don't think it has to do with race. However, in television and movies they (the directors or writers or whoever) seem to portray black men as tough, gangstas more often than not, so it may be partly the media's fault.

I believe that it's a power trip. Growing up without knowing who you really are can make you feel a little lost, and some people have lost their culture and become ignorant and disrespectful to themselves without even knowing this. So they use the only powerful strategy that they do know "intimidation". this is how they might feel respected or feered infamously and they will feel in control of people and their surroundings. This is a sad thing to see lost people, and them being so unaware and uncomfortable of thier atmosphere. So I believe this is how they deal with feeling unaccepted their showing you their power to be judged by you and all they can do is hope their strategy has worked on you, just showing you their confidence.

Maybe when you've experienced being a minority, you would understand. Honestly, I've seen more white guys get their a$$ kicked but that's just what I've seen (no weapons). Your experience could be different or you could be a racist, lumping all black people into one category. I tend to believe the latter.
