i am asking 'WHY?' notthing else. obviously its not because earth wanted to have day and night, coz rotation is reason for day and night, not vice versa.

I suppose earth revolve around Sun because after big bang everything shattered out or may be when sun was formed earth was also created and since sun was very heavy so earth caught in its gravitational pull and since then it is rotating to provide centirfugal force.

One earlier answer is close but does not go all the way.

The material it formed out of was slowly rotating already, and angular momentum is conserved; the more compact that material became the faster it had to rotate to conserve angular momentum.

Why did the material have some rotation in the first place? Because it is statistically VERY improbable to have a large extended ANYTHING with net zero rotation. Contract such an anything enough and its rotation becomes appreciable.

It is worth noting that it is the combined angular momentum of the Earth-Moon system that is relevant here. The moon once orbited much closer and the Earth rotated much faster. The transfer between the two (terrestrial rotation and the moon's orbital motion) continues, but the total of the combined has changed little since the hypothesised collision that formed the moon.

If you're just asking "why" then I guess you're asking why doesn't it stop. Asking "why" speaks of a motive or intent. The earth does not have a motive!!

But if it started spining and tilting due to an asteriod hit, then there's no friction in space to slow the earth down. There's a little contention with the moon, and that's slowing down the earth a little bit, but of course the earth won't stop spinning anytime soon.

-or-

God did it, - and made the 24 hour day made the tilt for the seasons. Either answer works well to explain this.

As with all the planets, the cloud of material from which they formed, began to rotate as it gathered material, in a process known as accretion.
