I Have been talking to a friend about Yellow stone, and we know who to stop it, and I would like to know what you all think.

To use it is very easy to stop.

All that needs to be is to vent it, and Alow the Laver and gas to flow out of the vents.
It like with us, If we held in our gas and poo (laver) we would go pop, and make a big mess and maybe kill some people, but we let it out in a contrould manner.
So controle the release of gas and laver form yellow stone, and save the earth.

It is unlikely that venting the magma chamber below Yellowstone would have any impact on decreasing the likelihood of a rhyolytic eruption. It's more likely the "hotspot" will be at a point in another 1000000 years until deeper crust.

Jake Lowenstern of the USGS Yellowstone Volcano has discounted the potential for near term eruptions.. The seismic activity doesn't indicate anything other then normal magmatic activity. Yellowstone has had several minor eruptions since the last super event 600,000 years ago. It's more likely a smaller event will happen again before any super blow off.

It has been speculated venting may actually trigger seismic events.. Also in order to vent the magma chamber it would require drilling deeper then we've ever drilled. .

Whoo...too many Buck Rogers' movies for you in the past, huh?
When Mount St. Helen's blew in 1980, it sent a cloud of red hot ash 18,000 meters into the sky in less than ten minutes. And an accurately recorded account of an airplane flying 48 kilometers from the volcano at the time of the explosion reported it had been hit by stones at a height of 7,000 meters. Ninety minutes after the blast ash began to fall on Yakima, Washington approximately 130 kms from the volcano. When it finally settled, it was more than 6 meters deep.

So, where exactly would you put all this 'vented' lava and gas you are talking about - bearing in mind that Yellowstone is actually the world's LARGEST volcano, and makes St. Helen's look like a firecracker in comparison - under the carpet?

This wouldn't save the earth. This is a natural way of the living earth to form new areas and landscapes. The theory that you have only save the people. People are really such a small part to the equation.
