Software development life cycle(SDLC)..... if not this

SDLC->Synchronous Data Link Control, is a synchronous bit oriented protocol over WAN links in 1970's IBM SNA based networks.

HDLC is successor of SDLC, HDLC is popular WAN protocol over synchronous and asynchronous links,connecting remote sites.
