It's becoming a way of life anymore. The insurance rates for employees is out of this world so they are testing before they ask for a second interview. Those tests are expensive, $50 per pop. So, they are serious about who they have working for them. I'd stick with a company that cares that much, they will be fair and easy to work with.

Drug - No

I was tested for blood for substances those were known back in 1974 when I got my first employment.

In those days only 'grass' (hashish/bhang etc) was known as 'drugs' and we would keep miles of distance from drugs. Hence, employer would see if we are otherwise healthy to undertake the job

I didn't, I think it was the second interview, but some companies might do the drug screen so they can decide if they want to give you a second interview.

I work in recruitment and my clients will often get drug tested before they even get to the 'first interview stage'

I've heard of it and it is usually a sign that they are considering you as a serious candidate.
