definately at home first - i learned that from my grandma. If you wanna give to other charties too, look into em first, cause ya never know where you're money is going.

That's another reason i say home first, cause at least then ya know =)

We have more help in the United States for our poor than almost any other country in the world. There are many organizations helping the poor in the U.S. exclusively, mostly U.S. charities funded by U.S. dollars. Many people, especially those in developing countries, have horrible diseases and ailments in incredibly disproportionate numbers to the United States.

We are already helping here. And we need to help overseas. It's our responsibility. Your "slant" is an old, tired one. Bill and Melinda's foundation is amazing, and Buffet's recent pledge is the largest in the history of philanthropy. They are making a difference in the world, including in the U.S.... and they have a more comprehensive vision of the future than you do.

Gates spreads plenty of money around this country, too. If you have Windows on your computer, you can consider yourself to have already donated to charity. Isn't that nice? Anyway, the poorest kid in this country is already orders of magnitude better off than the average kid in Africa; I'm not going to weep for them.

I think the money should go where it is needed most, kids go to bet hungry in the US, kids in Africa are dieing each day. If you don't agree don't send your money to Africa. Just for a follow up What are you doing to help the people in the USA, How much do you contribute/

Charity definitely begins at home. But the power of reasoning differentiates us from animals. If you have a dollar, you can donate 40 cents to a US kid and 60 cents to an overseas kid. 60 cents for an overseas kid because it might cost sending money from the US to overseas ;-)

i think we should start at home. there are an abundance of people who need help right here in the US and we should try to take of them before we help others although they need it

I believe you should do both. No one is saying send half your check, I think every little bit helps.
