I have worn both. Wearing glasses all of the time is a pain, though I do think that the right frames can be very attractive. For me, the problem was THICK lenses. I thought they looked horrible, so I wore contact lenses for years. They're expensive to buy, expensive to maintain (cleaning & disinfecting solutions), not to mention a pain to take out and clean (ideally every night).
I eventually had to stop wearing contacts because of dry eyes and had lasik done. It worked great, but am now in need of a touch up procedure. Temporarily, I'm back to glasses.
I suppose my suggestion to you would be to go with the look you want. If your eyeglasses are just plain lenses and you like the look, go for that. We're very lucky these days to have the wide variety of eyeglass frames that are available (not just Clark Kent for men and cat eyes for women - check out the links below to try on frames online).
On the other hand, if you're outdoors a lot, contacts are the way to go. I HATE sweating on eyeglasses and don't even get me started on wearing glasses in the rain!
The truth is, you can't wear contacts ALL of the time, so you'll at least need a simple pair of eyeglasses anyway.
Good luck!

The guy before me is totally wrong! TOTALLY Ok. CONTACTS deprive your eyes of oxygen because they sit on the tear film of your eyes and after an extended period of time, they can get old and cause bacteria and junk to get on the lens. That can cause allergies, infections, ulcers, etc. It doesn't make sense that eyeglasses deprive the eye of oxygen because they sit AWAY from the eye. Eyeglasses have NO negative effects, other than being a nuisance. Eyeglasses cannot cause a decrease in eye performance OR an improvement. Eyes are like your heart, they are a muscle and over time, the muscles get tired and stop functioning the way they need to. Lasik can improve vision because it is a surgical process. However, there are many factors thrown into that as well, including stability of RX, astigmatism, etc.

I'm in the same situation as you, believe it or not! I've been wearing glasses for 11 years now, and I hope to get contact lenses this summer. The reason being, is I don't have to worry all the time if something happens to them, and I can also take part in sports easily. Just to add, how annoying is it when it rains and you're unable to see? lol that's what I wanna steer away from. On the other hand, I want to have a pair of glasses as well, to give my eyes some rest every now and again (My eyesight is REALLY bad). I think that's important. If, when I have one of my 'off' days. then I can simply hide myself behind a frame! Haha that's pretty cool, especially if you purchase one of them trendy plastic framed glasses (from designer ofcoarse!). They're in nowadays, so you can look sexy and relaxed! Good luck x

Definitely try lenses. What I hate about wearing glasses is that when you look sideways, the rims sort of block your view. Plus they get foggy and keep on slipping down your nose - that was annoying, too. With lenses you won't have those problems. On the other hand, eyeglasses look good on some people........

i wear both, it sucks to wear glasses when it rains cuz they get wet and you can't see, but if you look tired glasses can help distract from that.
with lenses you can wear what ever sunglasses you like, but if you only wear glasses you would only be able to wear the prescription ones.
