Native American legend tells of thirteen life-size crystal skulls said to contain crucial information about humankind's truy purpose and destiny. The legend prophesied that at a time of great crisis for humanity, all of the crystals skulls would be rediscovered and brought together to reveal information vital to the very survival of the human race. The authors first heard of this legend while in the jungles of Central America and, after a real crystal skull was discovered in a Mayan city, set out on a quest to discover the truth behind this mystery. The Mystery of the Crystal Skulls follows their journey from the ancient temples of the Maya to the British Museum, the Smithsonian, and to the crystal laboratories of Hewlett-Packard, where sophisticated scientific tests on the skulls - made from the same quartz crystal used in today's computers - lead to the conclusion, "This skull should not even exist." These scientific tests have raised many questions: Are the skulls really information storage devices that allow us to tap deep into the past and predict the future? Are they artifacts from the lost civilizations of Atlantis or are they extraterrestrial in origin? The authors' journey also leads to Native shamans and elders who reveal the sacred knowledge and vital information that these skulls hold about coming earth changes and humanity's imminent destiny.

A crystal skull is a model of a human skull made out of clear quartz crystal. A modern legend claims that there are 13 crystal skulls worldwide, of which five have actually been found, which have mystical powers and are of ancient origin. Such claims remain unproven. New skulls carved from crystal are made and sold regularly.

They seem to be 10 a penny these days. All over eBay if you know where to look. I always thought Crystal was a lovely first name. If I ever have a daughter I'll call here that. Thankfully my second name isn't skull so they be no confusion and, fingers crossed, she'll never end up with a wooden leg

It's a fraud. The Aztec crystal skull was confirmed to be a fake since 2005. Check out the book "Fakes & Forgeries" by Reader's Digest

I read about it a long time ago on Worldmysteries.com. From what I recall, there are 13, but some of them are said to be fake. I think one civilian man has about five of them. Some ancient text mention that Atlantis used crystal power, so some people think they originate from Atlantis. I'm sure if you look on the Internet, there will be many reliable sources on the topic.
