My fears were justified today with the return of my blood test. I have low testosterone. This came as a shock to me as I am only 23 years old! For the last 5 years my sex drive had totally vanished and I didn't know why. I actually thought I had cancer so I did a complete physical. Everything was fine except for my testosterone levels. At least now I know the problem but now I have to choose the solution. Whats the best way to treat this? Patches, gel, or the shot? The most affordable choice for me would be the shot because it only costs like $20.00 but I would like a second opinion. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.

My doctor started me on the scrotal patch years ago and that didn't work well. you have to shave the area and even then the patch never stayed completely on. Because of that you don't get the full dose. Maybe they have a patch that you can put on now that goes on the abdomen and sticks better but I don't know about it. My doctor switched me to the gel a couple of years ago and that works fine. You can put it on either side of the abdomen and either shoulder. It's easy to apply and no need to shave the area. The problem with the shot is that you don't get a steady blood level. In order for the shot to last a month, oil is mixed with the medication so that it is slowly absorbed into the muscle it is injected into. The absorbtion rate is not even and you tend to to have low levels toward the end of the month. At least you didn't some years ago. Ask your doctor to see if my information is still correct.
