In Spain , they manage water better, their pipes are newer, don't leak 10,000,000 gallons a day, i agree that we are paying for a service and not getting 100% back. Mass investment is needed to replace the old pipes, that would entail a massive shutdown of water and stand pipes in the street. I could live with that for 2 days , if it meant i could water my daffs again !

Perhaps they have better reservoirs than we do. I know certainly where I live, we've lost a couple of reserviors because they've been filled in and now have housing estates on them. It doesn't matter how much it rains if there's nowhere to collect and store the water!

The cost of living here is far higher than it is on the continent anyway, it always has been which is why we pay so much more for everything, including water.

There is no water shortage in England. There is tones of water, it is just not in the right places due to Thatchers Privatisation of and essential service, and overpopulation of the South East.

No other country in Europe as such an extreme population focus around the driest corner. Twice as many people live in London than in Scotland or Wales!

Scooby Do, Do you actually remember the poll tax????
I think Council Tax is FAR Worse and set to get even worse with Prescotts 'Army'.

Water Shortage is not down to 'Lack of water Falling'
but the fact that the companies waste so much due to old pies
and leaks.

Sadly, although we get more rainfall than a lot of places that don't have bans or drought orders, I don't think our water companies manage it very well. The system of waterpipes in this country is in a terrible state with loads of wasteful leaks and I believe in some areas reservoirs have been sold off to developers. So, we have lots of water falling on our little island, but no one is managing it properly - honestly, how crap is that!?

I imagine your gas prices are far cheaper than the U.K., along with the cost of living... therefore it must equal out somehow
