What do you think about people that are retired, collecting pensions and social security and still in the work force making 50,000 or 60,000 dollars a year. I know of 4 people like this. One guy is getting 3 pensions, social security, and works at a job where he is making over 5,000 a month. I know the majority of older people don't have it like this, but don't you think that is being greety, and by doing this they are stopping the younger workforce from moving up to get their piece of the pie??? I get sick of hearing these folks talk, they are my bosses, to the point where I am about to tell them about themselves.

2 points: what they are doing is not illegal because they will gladly explain how it works. and 2 for those of you that have false hope that social security will be there when you retire, unless you plan on retiring in the next ten years you better have more then one plan, because the way it looks social security will not be around for more then 10 years.

Did you know you have to work at the same job for at least 20 years to collect a pension, 30 years to collect a full pension and can't collect till you are 62...year after year the government takes your money and again you have to wait till you are in your 60's to get a small portion back from social security...hats off to people who worked hard all their lives and still have good health and able to work in their 60's & 70's!
Greedy????

Government charity is a necessary vice *at best*. Those old-timers have been paying into the system their whole life, so they should get something back, but the practice of affluent elderly collecting social security should be phased out; it's not fair and we can't afford it. When FDR started social security 70 years ago, there were 50 workers for everyone getting SS, now there is *three*, and soon there will be *two*.

To me, these people deserve a lot of respect. I am not of retirement age yet, but anyone who has been out here that long to earn a pension or two and continue to work, must have some type of motiviation. We see just one side of their lives. It may seem that they are bragging on the outside but, who knows what an emotional struggle it is for them to have to do this. I'm sure they know people who are their age, who have retired in style and don't "have to work". When they compare their lives to those that are fully retired, it must really be depressing. So to me, we should bear with them becuase one day, we may be in that situation ourselves.

Social Security benefits are reduced if you earn over certain amounts while drawing the benefits. As far as pensions go, these were earned through years of service. These are private funds, not tax money. They have every right to that regardless of whether they chose to still work or what they earn.

They're breaking the law if they collect social security and take home 50 or 60 K. If that were in fact true and their income was taxable income, they'll be found out soon enough by the IRS or social security and they'd be on the hook for social security fraud.

I am a mouldy oldie, and finding it a struggle on the disability pension. I get mad at these greedy grey nomads too. I suppose you are in America? Why don't you take their names to social security (where the pensions come from?) We call them welfare cheats. Be brave and don't tell them, tell the Government instead, they hate welfare cheats, good luck!

I say more power to them.
I don't see greed as a bad thing.
I don't believe the older have any obligation to the younger to "let" them "get their piece" of any pie.
If there is a fraud element at work, well let justice run its course.
About social security, I don't give a damn. I want NOTHING to do with it. In my profession, I don't have to buy into it, so I don't.

I could likewise ***** that my tax dollars are going towards people who have kids & can't support them.
Life isn't fair, but sometimes you can make it unfair in your favor.
Frankly, accepting government aid is a slippery slope. They paid into those pensions long ago. The government still takes a cut off the interest.

Why begrudge some older people their extra income? They EARNED it fair and square!
He who works more, gets more.
You will also get pension and social security eventually, and if you want to work, to make more money and to feel fulfilled, you can.

Why not just accept it as a challenge from the oldies. If youw want a big piece of the pie then prove to them that you belong to the top.
