I've been married for 2 1/2 years and we have had ups and downs. Sometimes, the downs seem so bad you wonder if there were any ups. Is it possible (ideally) for a couple to be happy with each other all the time and be likable to the other all the time?

Most marriages have ups and downs...it is not a problem..you just have to have balance..pick your battles wisely..stay out of financial woes and don't cheat...try avoiding alcoholic or drug issues and that is ANOTHER fight that won't create problems..don't discount nagging as just nagging...if you understood that your wife cares or she wouldn't say a thing...then you are starting to understand the weight and value of her intuition..yeah some of that is lost on some women by the way they live their lives just as much as men... but over all if men actually paid attn to their wives and listened..they might be a little happier..not to say the wife is ALWAYS right..just usually..

Sounds like the honeymoon is over. I wonder were you always happy with your parents? Your best friend? I don't think there are any relationships that don't suffer from ups and downs. I've been married 13 years and some days it's wonderful. Other times I wonder Why I ever said I do and I know DH feels the same. It's part of what makes your marriage stronger. Rejoice that you have come so far already together.

I have been married for almost six years and I can honestly say, that we're always happy together.
We had some challenges over the years but nothing ever came between us as a couple.
Obviously this is the exception and not the norm but I wanted to let you know, that happy marriages do exist!
I wish you and your spouse all the best!

This is the question of the ages. You have to understand that there are going to be tough times no matter what happens. You have to be open and honest about what bothers you....what pleases you and what is always on your mind. Is it possible for two people to always be happy with one another. No. Its not. Two personalities together....will at times conflict. The best you can hope for is more happy times then bad ones. I have been married for 6 years....most of them good ones, but like you...when its bad its really bad. What you need to do is lay on the table all of your cards and not hold anything inside.

Probably not, at least it has not been my experience. It is important to make an effort once in a while to have fun together, and enjoy each others company. I see a lot of couples that just live together, out of habit more than anything. Relationships are not always easy, and not always fun. I would only worry if there were no fun times at all.

I don't think that ii is possible for anyone to be happy with anyone all of the time. Marriage is a hard road. Sometimes the downs are many but if we can dwell on the ups and enhance them maybe our marriages would be happier.

I have never ever met a couple that were happy all the time, inlcuding my parents. Eventually they gain a tolerance for each other and stay together out of fear of being alone. Marriage is a sham.
